Hello Madhaka, hope you're doing great. :D

I am happy to welcome a fellow designer to graphic designing. I'm myself a recent addict and enthusiast of graphic designing, and can say it with confidence that it has become from just a past-time to one of my favorite hobbies and something I do with my heart in it.

Allow me to share my short story. 6 months back I was free and had nothing to do so as a past time started designing. Designed logos for friends and family members. Contests caught my attention, and I started entering in quite a few contest. I learnt that I was better in some contests and not up to the mark in some depending on the designers who participated.

Thereon I decided to learn more and improve. At first I used CorelDraw, but then having realized that Adobe Illustrator(Ai) was a more commonly used software for vector designing, I switched to Ai. I looked up and followed online tutorials. An important site I must mention that has helped me along the way is [link]
This is an amazing site which has tutorials guiding you from the beginner level all the way upto advanced level. If anything, it'll help you discover the numerous features that Ai offers and that will help you make your designs look more professional and better.

I consider myself an amateur in this field. And regularly do tutorials, each time discovering a feature I hadn't discovered previously. So learning is a continuous process. Furthermore, if you are on Twitter, I'd recommend you to follow several designing-related sites as they tweet articles regarding different types of designing. You can also follow me as I usually tweet/retweet whatever I find useful to both, fellow designers and possible clients.

Remember, most of the times the logo needs to be simple and striking. Complex logos may be required for some projects.

Hoping that I've helped you in every possible way.

Regards,
